Beetle Busters-Community Leaders (Lesson 2)

Search and Report. Students will evaluate how signs of ALB infestation relate to the insect's life cycle.  They will also create personal Search Calendars identifying opportunities to search for various ALB life stages.

By designing a conservation programme, students learn about the importance of biodiversity as well as the economic benefits and services ecosystems provide.

Beetle Busters-Community Leaders (Lesson 1)

Students use ALB ID Cards to create labeled diagrams of key ALB characteristics.  They then complete a Classification Tree comparing the ALB with native insects.

Beetle Busters-Community Leaders (Intro Lesson)

Call to Action. Students are introduced to the ALB and what it means to be a Beetle Buster Community Leader.  The class creates a Wanted Wall with info about ALB from different sources, and students complete a writing activity describing why they are qualified and want to help stop the ALB.

Beetle Busters-Community Leaders (Lesson 3)

Save our Trees! Students discuss what trees are preferred by ALB and research attributes of hosts.  They then survey and measure trees in a local area and use the National Tree Benefits Calculator to reinforce the value of trees and the services they provide.
